What Is Dermapen Microneedling Treatment?

Dermapen is a medical-grade microneedling device designed to stimulate the skin’s natural regeneration process by creating controlled micro-injuries in the upper layers of the skin. These tiny punctures activate fibroblast cells, which in turn stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, helping to improve skin texture, tone, and structure.

Unlike traditional rollers or cosmetic devices, Dermapen uses a vertical stamping mechanism with a sterile, single-use cartridge containing up to 16 ultrafine needles. These needles create precise microchannels at adjustable depths, minimising trauma to the skin while allowing deeper penetration of active ingredients—enhancing the effectiveness of serums and post-treatment care.

This controlled injury process reduces acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, and hyperpigmentation while encouraging firmer, smoother, and more even-toned skin. Healing begins immediately and continues over several days and weeks, with results building progressively across a course of treatments.

At the Institute of Medical Physics, we often combine microneedling treatment with bioceuticals, LED light therapy, or laser resurfacing to accelerate recovery and target underlying concerns—offering a truly personalised, science-led approach to skin regeneration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is plasma fibroblast therapy?

Plasma fibroblast is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses controlled plasma energy to stimulate fibroblast activity, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin. This process helps tighten the skin, improve tone, and restore a firmer, more youthful appearance—without the need for surgery.

What are the benefits of plasma fibroblast therapy?

This plasma treatment is ideal for skin tightening, especially around the eyelids, jawline, and neck. It can also help reduce the appearance of skin pigmentation, smooth fine lines, and treat skin tags or minor surface irregularities. It’s a popular alternative to surgical eyelid lifts.

How many sessions do I need?

Many patients see visible improvement after one treatment, although results depend on the severity of skin laxity or concern.

Is plasma fibroblast skin-tightening treatment painful?

Discomfort is minimal, as a numbing cream is applied to the treatment area before the procedure begins. Most patients describe the sensation as a series of quick pinpricks or a mild stinging. Any sensitivity typically subsides shortly after the session.

Is plasma fibroblast safe for all skin types?

Plasma fibroblast is best suited for Fitzpatrick skin types I–III, as darker skin tones have a higher risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation. Your skin type and suitability will be carefully assessed during your consultation.
