A previously treated tattoo left with significant scar tissue and ink that had shifted colour under prior laser work — a common sign of oxidised or incompletely fragmented pigment from earlier sessions elsewhere. Phantom’s multi-wavelength platform let us select wavelengths matched to the altered ink chemistry rather than repeating the approach that caused the shift, achieving complete clearance without compounding the existing scarring. Gone. Guaranteed.

Full clearance on this dense black-and-grey illustrative piece — one of six tattoos removed from this patient's right arm. Fitzpatrick Type IV skin (Middle Eastern heritage) carries elevated risk for both post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation, especially with saturated black ink and fine linework like this. Phantom's multi-wavelength platform allowed the fluence and spot size to be matched precisely to the ink density and skin tone, protecting the surrounding melanin throughout treatment. Result: complete clearance, zero pigment disruption

A stubborn stick-and-poke tattoo with underlying scar tissue and an ink composition resistant enough to survive six PicoWay sessions over 15 months elsewhere. Under Phantom’s multi-wavelength platform, we were able to vary pulse duration and wavelength selection to reach ink that conventional picosecond technology couldn’t break down — full clearance achieved in 9 months, with no shadowing and no residual pigmentation. The skin itself came through in better condition than when we started. Gone. Guaranteed.

Large full-coverage Japanese-style piece — dense grey-blue cloudwork with red/pink accents on warmer mid-tone skin. Gone in 9 months. Multi-colour saturated work on Fitzpatrick IV demands wavelength range plus caution — Phantom™ 1064nm cleared the blue-grey mass safely on pigmented skin, 532nm lifted the red, with Thulium 1927nm held in reserve for PIH management. Complete clearance. Fitzpatrick IV.

Before

After

Dense block-filled cosmetic brow with a purple-blue oxidised cast on warm mid-tone skin. Gone in 5 months. Oxidised brow pigment on pigmented skin is a dual hazard. Phantom™ 1064nm cleared the dark base safely at this skin depth, 755nm targeted the blue-violet shift that defeats single-wavelength systems. Specialist case: facial cosmetic ink on Fitzpatrick IV. Complete clearance, natural brow hair preserved, no pigment loss. Fitzpatrick IV.

Before

After

Saturated permanent makeup brow with dark base and orange/warm oxidised undertone. Gone in 5 months. Cosmetic brow pigment sits on the face beside the eye and can paradoxically darken if hit with the wrong wavelength — Phantom™ 1064nm cleared the dark base safely, 532nm targeted the exposed warm-orange tones that defeat single-wavelength systems. Specialist case: facial location plus cosmetic ink. Complete clearance, natural brow hair preserved. Fitzpatrick II.

After

$Delicate single-needle fine-line cherub with bow and heart, pure thin black outline on fair skin. Gone in 4 months. Fine-line work has so little pigment per line that lower-resolution lasers struggle to find a target without overtreating the surrounding skin — Phantom™ Sub-300ps (280ps) fractured the sparse black ink precisely with no collateral damage. Complete clearance, delicate skin texture preserved. Fitzpatrick II.$

Before

After

Solid dark cosmetic brow pigment, heavily filled and squared, on deeply pigmented skin. Gone in 6 months. This is the highest-risk — dark cosmetic ink on dark skin, where the wrong wavelength burns or strips surrounding pigment. Phantom™ 1064nm cleared the pigment while protecting the surrounding skin. Specialist case: facial cosmetic ink on Fitzpatrick V–VI. Complete clearance, natural brow restored, no pigment loss. Fitzpatrick V–VI.

After

Large black-and-grey figure — armoured warrior with spear and shield — already heavily faded to soft blue-grey on fair skin. Gone in 7 months. Old ink that has faded to diffuse blue-grey is a low-density, partly blue-shifted target that stalls under standard black protocols — Phantom™ 1064nm cleared the residual dark base, 755nm lifted the blue-shifted pigment lower-spec lasers leave as a shadow. Complete clearance, skin texture preserved. Fitzpatrick II.

Before

After

$Large detailed black-and-grey castle half-sleeve with dense shading and faint pink/purple accents on fair skin. Gone in 10 months. Heavy grey-wash detail over a large area is deceptively hard — dilute shading stalls lower-resolution lasers — so Phantom™ 1064nm carried the dark linework, Sub-300ps (280ps) fractured the broad grey gradients, 532nm lifted the pink accents. Specialist case: large saturated coverage. Complete clearance, Fitzpatrick II.$

After

Aged black tribal piece, faded to blue-grey with a slight purple cast on freckled fair skin. Gone in 6 months. Old black ink that has shifted blue-grey needs more than a black protocol — Phantom™ 1064nm cleared the dark base, 755nm targeted the blue-shifted pigment that lower-spec lasers leave as a grey shadow. Complete clearance. Fitzpatrick II.

Before

After

Fine-line pure red ink, sprawling branch design across the deltoid. Gone in 5 months. Red is one of the hardest pigments to clear and needs precise 532nm targeting — a wavelength many commercial platforms lack. Phantom™ 532nm delivered complete clearance with no residual pigment and no textural change. Fitzpatrick II.

After

Detailed black-and-grey fairy with dense outlines and graded shading on light skin. Gone in 6 months. Pieces that mix solid black linework with soft tonal shading need two pulse profiles — Phantom™ 1064nm carried the dense outlines, Sub-300ps (280ps) cleared the smooth grey gradients lower-resolution lasers leave mottled. Complete clearance, texture preserved. Fitzpatrick II–III.

Before

After

Dense black-and-grey wildlife piece with heavy saturated blackwork on warm mid-tone skin. Gone in 9 months. Solid black blocks on Fitzpatrick IV carry real burn and pigment-loss risk — Phantom™ 1064nm is the safest wavelength for dark skin and cleared the dense mass without disturbing surrounding tone. Specialist case: heavy black saturation on darker skin. Complete clearance, even tone preserved. Fitzpatrick IV.

Before

After

Solid black raccoon silhouette with a faded red/brown crescent on fair skin. Gone in 5 months. Dense solid black sits beside dilute warm-red ink — two very different targets — so Phantom™ 1064nm cleared the saturated black body, 532nm lifted the faded red crescent that single-wavelength black-only systems leave behind. Complete clearance, skin texture preserved. Fitzpatrick II.

Before

After

$Large aged black-and-grey piece — seated figure framed by oak leaves, faded to soft grey with blurred edges on fair skin. Gone in 8 months. Decades-old ink that has migrated and softened reads as diffuse grey, the kind of low-density target lower-resolution lasers can't lift cleanly — Phantom™ 1064nm cleared the darker mass, Sub-300ps (280ps) fractured the dispersed faded particles. Complete clearance, skin texture preserved. Fitzpatrick II.$

Before

After

Large multi-colour roses — red, pink, green, purple, with black linework wrapping the full arm. Gone in 11 months. Full-colour coverage is the hardest removal there is, demanding the complete wavelength range — Phantom™ 532nm cleared the reds and pinks, 694nm broke the resistant greens, 755nm lifted the purple-blues, 1064nm carried the black. Specialist case: large saturated multi-colour sleeve. Fitzpatrick II.

Before

After

$Fine-line black and grey with soft shading. Gone in 5 months. Grey wash disperses ink thinly, which stalls most clearances — Phantom™ 1064nm cleared the black linework, Sub-300ps (280ps) fractured the dilute grey-shade particles. Near-complete clearance, skin texture fully preserved. Fitzpatrick II.$

Before

After

$Small black-and-grey cherries with soft shading on freckled fair skin. Gone in 4 months. Soft grey shading disperses ink thinly, the kind of dilute pigment that stalls lower-resolution lasers — Phantom™ Sub-300ps (280ps) fractured the fine shaded particles cleanly. Complete clearance, freckling and skin texture untouched. Fitzpatrick II.$

After

Mythological figure, upper back. Large black-and-grey centaur/satyr piece with faint green-yellow accents. Gone in 8 months. Broad black-grey coverage with sparse warm tones needs more than one wavelength — Phantom™ 1064nm cleared the dense black mass, 532nm lifted the residual green-yellow that resists single-platform systems. Complete clearance, skin texture preserved. Fitzpatrick II.
